How to Increase Your Skill Rating (SR) in Overwatch
Find your main.If you're comfortable with a hero, you'll get more Eliminations or Objective time. If you have a gold medal, then you'll get bonus XP and then bonus SR. Just make sure it falls into the Team Comp.
Know what that hero has to do.Heroes have different roles. While they can be adapted to play different roles, they are meant to do their role effectively. For example, a Defense Junkrat can easily hold a point, but he works well on offense as well.
Get your Objective Time up.If you stay on the payload or stay on the point for the longest in the game, it's not too hard to get a Golden Objective Time.
Get your Weapon Accuracy up.This is especially important if playing a sniper, but most heroes will have "Weapon Accuracy". A good sniper usually lands somewhere between 85%-100% weapon accuracy per game. If you get your weapon accuracy up, it's likely you'll get more SR.
Defend the Objective.Don/t stray from the objective, because the more you are on it, the more your likely to win and get SR.
Attack the Objective.Make sure that, if you're on offense, that they will always struggle whenever you go in for an attack.
Counter their strategy or composition. If they have 3 Turrets (Symmetra, Bastion, Torbjorn), 2 Tanks (Roadhog and D.va) and a Healer (Lucio) then you're going to struggle. Consider making your Team Comp have shields in it, such as with Reinhardt or Orisa to block the turrets, and use DPS to defeat their Tanks.
Talk with your team.Use your microphone on the voice chat. If you can quickly talk to your team, your more likely to win than lose. Text is fine, too, but it's less quick and less noticeable.
Fixing Your SR
Keep an eye on the Minimum. If your SR drops below the Tier Minimum (if you have 1495 SR and your in Silvers, which is a Minimum of 1500 SR), you're going to lose that tier if you don't win. Try putting all your skills into the game to win.
Get into a group with your friends. You and your friends know your mains, your strategies, your skill, and your play style much better than other random players do. Communicate with them, play your mains well together, and combo your Ultimates.
Use Ultimates wisely.A well-used Doomfist Ultimate can kill 2-3 people, and make it easy to push the point. A Pharah Ultimate is also deadly if you know how to use it. But both these heroes require some skill to play, so if a ultimate is used incorrectly, you have a high chance of failing or dying while doing it.
QuestionWhat if I don't have a mic to talk in?wikiHow ContributorCommunity AnswerGet a mic; doesn't matter if it's good or bad. Communication is essential in competitive Overwatch, so use what you have. Thanks!
